Aside from the black edition having a different design with the black brushed metal, the fan on the black edition has better performance and is quieter than the evo's.

Today we will benchmark that cooler yet again using the current test platform, and compare it to a new generation of Hyper 212: the Black Edition.

With the Cinebench R23 multi core test, the Ryzen 5 5600 achieved an average CPU CCD1 reading of 62. The controller is powered by a standard 4-pin MOLEX connector and provides power and RGB functions to the fan’s LEDs. It’s rated at a bit higher speed than the Silencio fan we talked about earlier so in theory it should move a bit more air.

For testing we will first compare noise levels between the two coolers at idle and at maximum fan speeds. It feels appropriate that baseball season is right around the corner because Cooler Master has hit it out of the park with the Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition. i want to know is it okay with this cpu air cooler , are they juust fine woth 3700x or need to change .In the last five years I have reviewed a number of coolers here at PC Perspective, and feedback from readers almost always includes mention of, and requests for comparison to, that Hyper 212 EVO. Two different versions of the Hyper 212 Black Edition have been released, one with a stealthy Silencio Fan, and another with an RGB enabled fan (SF120R RGB).

Not only does it provide your modern gaming rig with visually stunning features such as dark nickel plating and brushed aluminum panels, it performs just as well or better than the original cooler. Stacked fin array ensures the least airflow resistance, which allows cooler air to flow into the heatsink. It’s very likely that anyone who purchases this particular CPU will be in the market for a CPU cooler upgrade especially if the user is looking to do any form of overclocking. The Hyper 212 Halo Black is Cooler Master's latest take on a mid-range air cooler for today's modern CPUs, and represents an evolution for the brand's longstanding Hyper 212 product line-up that has served DIY PC enthusiasts for more than a decade and counting. With the four spring-loaded mounting screws tightened down the Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition feels very secure – no twisting possible unlike the 212 EVO, which never felt fully secured to me. The amazing performance you’d get in an inexpensive package is what has kept system builders coming back build after build.

With that, the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Halo Black comes across as a pretty decent CPU air cooler that would work well with mid-range CPUs such as AMD’s Ryzen 5 offerings, or Intel’s Core i5 line-up. Moving over to the bottom of the cooling tower assembly, we see that the Hyper 212 Halo Black features four direct-contact heat pipes that are painted black so as to match the rest of the cooling tower’s appearance.Every time after I run Prime95 for around six minutes, the system just crashed and just wasn’t able to keep up. I also did some overclocking to see how this cooler can handle it and I used the Ryzen master software to overclock the 2600X to 4.
