Selina tells me she still has nightmares about losing her children and no amount of therapy seems to help. The epilogue seemed to warn parents, teachers, caregivers, and foster parents that a false allegation may be made against them. That is absolutely horrifying and the mother in this book did not deserve to get her youngest children back after abandoning her oldest.

She is supposed to have phone contact with Polly and Angie but doesn’t want to speak to them, which seems strange. I just felt that I needed to say that as a reminder and I would have liked for that to have been mentioned by Cathy to her readers in the epilogue along with the acknowledgment that false allegations occur. It's hard to give a Cathy glass book anything but 5 stars but as other reviews have said this book feels different then her other ones. In this newest memoir, Cathy Glass looks after two young children after their older sister makes allegations of sexual abuse against their father.Every time a Cathy Glass book comes out I know I need to set aside some time because I cannot put these books down once I start. Some things are unforgivable I felt sorry for Selina and Tim because of a kid who didn’t like discipline and decides it’s ok to make up lie after lie Disgusting lies. The police and social services have no choice but to remove two-year-old Jamey from home after his mother leaves him alone all night to go out partying. I would highly recommend this book and all of Cathy's books to anyone who is interested in fostering or social work, those who enjoy memoirs, or those just looking for something interesting. Maybe it was the constant reference to covid it’s restrictions and their compliance or jumping to conclusions whilst also saying she didn’t judge?

The story Cathy tells keeps you captivated from the very first page right through until the last page. Each book I’ve read has left me with the lingering reminder that the primary issue addressed is incredibly widespread. Her next three titles, Hidden, Cut and The Saddest Girl in the World, were similarly successful, all reaching the bestseller charts. She is able to perfectly capture and balance the perspectives of herself as the foster carer, her children, the foster children, and the foster children's families.
