This is definitely a feel good book, though there are some mentions of some sad topics, this book is filled with so much joy! Ross's choice of the Blue over Sean was in the mer's mind all the time, and the story let me hope not once, but twice, that they would end up together after a twist, only for the author to double back and say "nope, the right choice is to pick Home, not Love". I liked how he realized that he needed to focus on himself more and also on now instead of the future. This agile sea creature displays in its scales one of the most wonderful expressions of natural geometry.

Um so I originally thought this was a novel adaption of this lgbt+ webcomic that I read about a mermaid and a human falling in love. It’s a fantastic independent book seller that will actually be responsive and select appropriate books for you. I watched them walk away, and with each step they took it was solidified in my heart that all this is real.

I also thought the writing could've been better, though I found myself pretty satisfied with the writing as is. The book also portrays her as having a penchant for media exposure over policy meetings, preferring photo ops to trade discussions with diplomats and having civil servants go to lengths to make sure she had good opportunities to post to Instagram. Crest is also certain humans are awful, is really rude about people existing, and weirdly is super offended by people eating fish.
