It does not pass judgement on feelings or describe them as positive or negative, it simply gives an idea of what effect thay have using very simple text and powerful images. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others.

Accompanying a manuscript Geisel wrote in 1974 was a letter outlining his hopes of finding "a great color artist who will not be dominated by me". This popular series combined engaging stories with outrageous illustrations and playful sounds to teach basic reading skills.

his iconic characters, stories, and art style have been a lasting influence on generations of children and adults. I recommend the book Black Is a Rainbow Color as a means to both acknowledge how the color black is loaded with historical baggage, but is also a strong color that reflects a powerful culture as well. We have had the odd conversation after reading it that reflects the colour of the day that we have had - or how we felt in colours when we fell out or did something fun.

Works based on his original stories have won three Oscars, three Emmys, three Grammys, and a Peabody. Having read it a few times, my 6yo will pick this up at random times to help show us the colour of her mood.A brighter, more playful cover design makes this board book edition all the more appropriate as a color concept book to use with babies or a feelings and moods book to discuss with toddlers. My son does not tend to choose this at book reading time when it is next to so many more exciting looking books, for this reason. it's a fast read for Seuss, and so deep and meaningful, I wish there were adult versions and a self help series built around this concept for the parents!

Winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 1984 and three Academy Awards, Seuss was the author and illustrator of 44 children’s books, some of which have been made into audiocassettes, animated television specials, and videos for children of all ages. Seuss’s first children’s book, And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street, hit the market in 1937, and the world of children’s literature was changed forever! Dark colors represent emotions ranging from anger to sadness, while light colors represent emotions like happiness. Geisel saw his original text about feelings and moods as part of the "first book ever to be based on beautiful illustrations and sensational color". In 1993, a study was conducted on children’s emotional associations with colors and found that they had an early affinity with bright colors, having positive emotional connotations, and adversity with dark colors, having negative emotional connotations.I'm reading it with my 3year old and the no pressure no drama style means some days she wants to talk about feelings in the book and other days she'd rather just list the animals illustrated inside - and that's perfect for us as it provokes thought and discussion rather then force feeding information. Black and Brown children may internalize that their skin is inferior to lighter skin and that they should be mad or even unfeeling while lighter-skinned children should be happy. My Many Colored Days, published in 1996, reflects conversations within child psychology at the time. I have personally found this works especially well with children on the autistic spectrum and very young (pre-verbal) children.

In 1957, Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat became the prototype for one of Random House’s best-selling series, Beginner Books. My Many Colored Days Book Review Teaching for Change (2021) by Paige Pagan: https://socialjusticebooks. A rhyming story, it describes each day in terms of a particular color which is in turn associated with a specific emotion.
